Driving in Winter

Chapter 8 · Manual page 338

Winter Tyres This series of models are not equipped with winter tyres when leaving the factory. Winter tyres can improve the traction on snow covered and icy roads. If the vehicle frequently runs on snow covered and icy roads, you should consider installing winter tyres on the vehicle. When choosing winter tyres, the owners should note that:

  • The four winter tyres must be the same brand and type;
  • Only tyres with the same specifications, load range and speed class as the original tyres should be used. The installation of winter tyres may result in reduced traction on dry roads, increased road noise, and shortened tread life. After the replacement of winter tyres, it is necessary to note the changes in vehicle operation and braking performance. Anti Skid or Snow Chains Unsuitable anti-skid or snow chains may damage the tyres, wheels, suspension, brakes or bodywork of your vehicle. Please pay attention to the following requirements when using anti skid or snow chains:
  • The anti-skid or snow chains can only be fitted on the rear drive wheels;
  • The thickness of anti-skid or snow chains must not exceed 15 mm;
  • Please always observe the installation and tension instructions for the anti-skid or snow chains, as well as the speed limitations of different roads;
  • Do not drive faster than 31 mph(50 km/h) ;
  • To avoid tyre damage and excessive wear of the anti-skid or snow chains, the anti-skid chains must be removed while driving on roads without snow. | Size and Specifications of Wheels and Tyres Supporting Anti-skid or Snow Chains for this Vehicle (rear drive wheels) | | | --- | --- | | Wheel Rim Size | 9J×20 ET38 | | Tyre Size | 255/45 R20 105V |

Before purchasing anti-skid or snow chains, ensure that the specifications of wheel rim and tyre are consistent with those in the above table to avoid failure to fit the anti-skid or snow chains.s
