Activation and Deactivation of Commanded Lane Change

Chapter 5 · Manual page 263

When the following conditions are met, the commanded lane change system will enable the vehicle to drive into the adjacent lane in the direction indicated by the lane change indicator, and display the entire process of lane change on the instrument pack:

  • The full-speed driver assistance system works normally and is fault free;
  • The direction indicator lamp has been turned on;
  • There are no intervening obstacles in the target lane;
  • The lane marking indicates that lane change is allowed (the lane line is white dashed line or white dashed and solid lines with the inside of the current lane being dashed line);
  • The system can detect the outer lane line of the target lane;
  • The driving speed is between 47mph (75km/h)~81mph (130km/h);
  • The vehicle is on a carriageway that is physically separated from the oncoming lane, and there are no pedestrians or non-motorized vehicles around. If the system detects that there is an intervening obstacle in the target lane, or the lane line in the lane change direction is a non-white dashed line or the curvature radius of the road is too small during the lane change, it will not enter the lane change process until the lane change conditions are met. If the following situations occur during the lane change (without crossing the original lane line), the lane change will be canceled and the vehicle will return to the original lane:
  • The driver toggles back the turn signal light lever to cancel the lane change request;
  • There is a risk of collision with a vehicle approaching from behind in the target lane;
  • The lane line on the outside of the target lane cannot be detected;
  • The curvature radius of the road is too small.
