Jump Start
Chapter 6 · Manual page 274
NEVER start the vehicle by pushing or towing.
Make sure that BOTH batteries are of the same rated voltage (12V), and that the jumper cables are approved for use with 12V car batteries.
Ensure there are no sparks or naked flames in the front compartment.
Ensure that jumper cables are securely connected and do not touch each other or other moving parts, otherwise this could cause sparks and could lead to fire or explosion.
It is prohibited to perform a jump start operation using a normal gasoline vehicle, this may cause damage to the LVBM.
In cases of a low or flat battery, the vehicle can be started by using a jumper cable to connect the battery of another vehicle or connecting the battery external power source.
Make sure that the vehicle is powered off and all electrical appliances of the vehicle are turned off, then follow the instructions below:

- Connect a red jumper cable between the positive (+) terminals of both batteries. If the tailgate of the disabled vehicle cannot be opened, then the positive jumper point in the front compartment fuse box (as shown 1 in Figure) can be used as the positive terminal of the battery.
- Connect the black jumper cable from the negative (-) terminal of the donor vehicle battery to a good earth point (such as the crossbeam or other unpainted surface) on the disabled vehicle, and try to keep it well away from the battery, avoiding brake pipes etc.
- Start the donor vehicle and allow it to run for a few minutes.
- Power up the disabled vehicle. If the disabled vehicle will not power up after several attempts, it may need to be repaired. Please contact an Authorised Repairer for assistance.
- After the disabled vehicle has powered up, leave it in the READY mode for more than 30 minutes before turning the start switch of the donor vehicle off and disconnecting the jumper cables.
- Disconnect the jumper cables. Disconnecting the jumper cables must be an exact reversal of the procedure used to connect them, i.e. disconnect the black negative jumper cable from the earth point on the disabled vehicle FIRST.
NEVER turn on any electrical equipment on the disabled vehicle before removing the jumper cables.
It is recommended to turn off comfort appliances such as lights and air conditioners after powering the disabled vehicle, and keep the vehicle powered for 1 to 2 hours to restore the battery power. If the vehicle is still unable to power up normally after fully charged, please contact an Authorised Repairer for repair.
