Auto Hold

Chapter 4 · Manual page 212

The auto hold system cannot guarantee the stability of the vehicle when starting off on the hill, or braking on hills especially on slippery or icy surfaces.

When auto hold stops the vehicle, if the electronic parking brake is applied for any reasons (such as powertrain shutdown, releasing the seat belt or turning off the auto hold function, etc.), it cannot be guaranteed that the vehicle will be stabilised in all cases. For example, the rear wheels are on an icy, snowy or slippery road surface, or the parking slope is high. Please make sure that the vehicle is safely stabilised prior to exiting.

The driver should pay full attention and observe the surroundings even if the vehicle is equipped with auto hold system.

Auto hold cannot guarantee the electronic parking brake operation in all cases where the power system is shut down. Please ensure the electronic parking brake is applied and the vehicle is stablised prior to exiting the vehicle.

The auto hold function should be switched off during the use of automatic car washes, the electronic parking brake may suddenly apply and cause vehicle damage. If the vehicle is required to stop frequently for long periods while driving (such as waiting at the traffic lights, stopping on a slope or in urban stop-and-go conditions), the Auto Hold function can assist you in stabilising the vehicle and prevent it from moving, enabling you to remove your foot from the brake pedal when the vehicle is stationary. Auto Hold has three states as follows:

  1. Standby: With the driver’s seat belt fastened, the driver’s door closed and the vehicle in READY state, press the Auto Hold button on the central screen to enter the Standby state.
  2. Operating: When the vehicle is moving forward, press the brake pedal to stop the vehicle, and then firmly press the brake pedal to switch the Auto Hold function from Standby to the Parking state. The Auto Hold will exit the parking state if the brake pedal is firmly pressed again. When the Auto Hold is in the parking state, it will exit the parking state according to the slope if D or R gear is selected and the accelerator pedal is pressed.
  3. Press Auto Hold button on the central screen again to disable the function.

If the vehicle is stopped by firmly pressing the brake pedal, the Auto Hold function will directly enter the parking state. Auto Hold will exit the parking state when the EPB switch is pressed with the brake pedal pressed. Auto Hold will exit the parking state under some circumstances such as releasing the seat belt, turning off the power system, remaining static for a length of time or touching the Auto Hold switch. At this time, the EPB will be applied.
