In severe winter conditions, frozen water may make it more difficult to open the tailgate by operating the tailgate mechanical switch. In this situation you are able to open the tailgate as follows:
- Use the Mobile Phone APP, follow the instructions to remotely unlock the tailgate;
- Use the screen menu in the cabin, trigger the tailgate unlock function.
Do not try to release the frozen mechanical switch using tools or applying excessive force.
- If the tailgate can not be closed or the weatherstrip between the body and tailgate is damaged, be sure to close all windows during driving, select the face distribution mode of the air conditioner, and set the blower to maximum speed, so as to reduce the chance of surrounding pollutant gases entering the vehicle.
- Prior to opening or closing the tailgate always ensure there are no people or objects that may obstruct operation. This may cause physical harm or damage.
- In cases of an extreme slope, the tailgate may not be electrically opened or fully closed due to the change of the centre- of-gravity position.
- During manual operation of power tailgate, avoid violent or rapid operation, which may damage the power tailgate system.
If the system thermal protection is triggered due to continuous operation of the power tailgate for several times within a short period, the system will suspend the power opening/closing function. In this situation, the tailgate can be fully closed manually once, the function of power tailgate system will be restored after 3 minutes.
If the anti-pinch function of the power tailgate is triggered for several times consecutively, the system will suspend the power opening/closing function. In this situation, the tailgate can be fully closed manually once to restore the function of power tailgate system.
If the power tailgate system fails, and the relevant warning message “Close trunk manually/Switch to P gear” accompanied by the warning icon displayed in the message centre of instrument pack, please seek a local After-sales Repairer.
Conventional Opening/Closing Mode of Power Tailgate The power tailgate can be operated only when the vehicle is in P/N gear.
The electric tailgate can be opened or closed in the following ways:
- When the user is outside the car, if the vehicle is unlocked or the matching key is within 1 meter around the tailgate, press button A to open the electric tailgate; Press button B to close the electric tailgate(Button B is located on the inside of the tailgate).
- When the user is in the car, long press the tailgate switch in the Home interface of the center screen to open or close the tailgate.
- Use the smart key to open/close the tailgate: When the power system is off, long press the smart key (Figure C), and the tailgate will automatically open or close.
The power tailgate may not function fully at extreme temperatures.
After the tailgate has been opened for 15 minutes, the power tailgate function will be disabled in order to save power.
During automatic car washing, the vehicle remains locked to prevent the tailgate from opening due to accidental operation of the tailgate switch.
If the tailgate fails to fully open to its preset height or fully closed, manually close it once slowly and completely to restore the functions of power tailgate system.
During manual operation of power tailgate, avoid violent or rapid operation, so that the power tailgate system will not be damaged.
Opening Height Setting of Power Tailgate The user can set the opening height of the electric tailgate on the central screen, or by long pressing the tailgate close button, the electric tailgate controller will record the latest opening height value.
Each time the power tailgate opens, it will be at a height from minimum to maximum as set by the user.
Setting mode 1:
- After the tailgate is opened, drag the tailgate to the desired height and ensure that it is stationary.
- Press and hold the tailgate close button for more than three seconds. A buzzer will sound when the setting is successful.
Setting mode 2:
Enter the tailgate height setting interface on the center screen, slide the height setting slider to the desired height position.
Kick Sensing Function When the valid intelligent key is within the effective range of the tailgate, the tailgate can be opened via kick sensing.When the vehicle is unlocked, the tailgate can be opened directly through the kick sensing mode.
To open the tailgate using the foot sensing function, stand in the middle behind the vehicle as far as possible, move your foot and lower leg quickly to a position (1) as close to the rear bumper as possible, your lower leg must be in the upper sensor area and your foot must be in the lower sensor area, then move your foot and lower leg quickly away from the sensor area (2), and the tailgate will be opened automatically. The kick sensing function is enabled by default.The user can turn off the kick sensing function by “Setting - Door Lock - Tailgate open sensing” on the central screen. When washing your car or performing maintenance and service work near the rear bumper, to prevent the tailgate from opening due to accidental triggering of the sensing function, please turn off the foot sensing function with the soft switch on the entertainment display. In some cases, the tailgate opening by foot sensing will not be available or will be limited, so you can open the tailgate in other ways. Whilst the car wash mode is enabled, the kick sensing function cannot be used.
Tailgate Emergency Open
In the event of an electrical failure, a tailgate emergency open switch is located on the inner side of tailgate lock. Lower the rear seat to gain access to the loadspace so that the emergency open plug on the tailgate trim plate can be touched. Rotate the retaining clip to release the plastic cover to gain access to the mechanical release mechanism inside the tailgate.
