Precautions of Intelligent Drive

Chapter 5 · Manual page 226

The camera and radar cannot work normally in all driving situations or traffic, weather and road conditions. When the vehicle is in a complex or poor environment, you should drive cautiously and always be responsible for driving safety. When the radar or camera is abnormal or damaged, please contact Authorised Repairer for replacement or repair. The front and rear millimeter-wave radars are installed in the front and rear bumpers, respectively. Therefore, to avoid affecting the performance of the millimeter-wave radars, it is strictly prohibited to paint, retrofit and encircle the bumper. Calibration of Visual Camera The visual camera must be re-calibrated in the following situations:

  • The visual camera is removed/installed;
  • Any parts that make up the visual camera assembly are removed/installed, such as the left and right rearview mirrors, front and rear bumpers, wing molding assembly, etc Note: The visual camera must be calibrated by trained personnel using special tools. Please contact an Authorised Repairer when calibration is required. Calibration of Millimeter-wave Radar The millimeter-wave radar must be re-calibrated in the following situations:
  • The radar has a maladjustment failure, for example the position of the forward detection radar has changed;
  • The radar or radar bracket is removed/installed;
  • The front anti-collision beam is removed/installed;
  • The four-wheel alignment parameters have changed. Note: If the radar suffers from strong vibration or slight impact, its installation position needs to be checked and re-calibrated if necessary. Note: The radar must be calibrated by trained personnel using special tools. Please contact the Authorised Repairer when calibration is required. In the following situations, the detection performance of the visual camera will be affected:
  • Driving in bad weather, such as heavy fog, heavy rain, heavy snow, dust, sand storm, etc. which cause visibility reduction;
  • Affected by the light, such as: in the night and under poor auxiliary lighting, backlighting in the view, direct light from the oncoming vehicles, quick bright/dark light level changes (tunnel entrance/exit), driving on a strong reflective road surface (wet or snow covered roads), in the tunnels, buildings, etc.;
  • The car drives in places with insufficient light, such as: in the evening, at night, in a tunnel, building, underground parking lot, etc.;
  • The camera is partially or fully blocked by the obstacles, such as foreign objects, oil stains, dust, mud, snow, rain, frost or splashed water, etc.;
  • The windscreen in view of the front view camera is damaged;
  • The camera is not calibrated after removal/installation;
  • The camera is not secured in place. The radar detection performance will be affected in the following cases:
  • When the radar is covered by mud, snow, heavy rain or water spray;
  • When the front and surrounding areas of the radar are covered by such objects as labels or auxiliary lighting devices;
  • When the radar is subject to strong vibration or slight impact;
  • Some targets may affect and weaken the detection of the radar, such as road fences and tunnel entrances;
  • When the radar is affected by the environment, such as under electromagnetic field interference or due to the target itself;
  • Radar signals that are strongly reflected (e.g., in multi-storey car parks, tunnels, water jets from sprinklers, etc.) may degrade the function of the radar sensor. Note: Any snow on the radar should be removed with a brush, ice should be removed with deicing spray. Note: Never knock the radar, for example, bumping into the radar when moving the car, this may cause displacement or damage.
